About Real Problems Podcast

Sophia and Lauren noticed that everyday mental health is NOT widely discussed. “Real Problems Podcast” tries to help make mental health a normal, everyday topic of conversation, because mental health is an everyday thing that goes on in our heads. We want to help remind everyone that no matter how big or small – your problems are real, valid, and acceptable. Realizing that can go a long way towards creating and maintaining your balance. Lauren and Sophia are average people, with regular coping skills, just working to be the happiest and most effective versions of ourselves. We want to create a space where your thoughts and feelings are not just okay to have, but normalized. We’ll share the tools we use in our daily lives with our listeners, so you all can learn to be happier and more content with your lives too. We felt a podcast would be the best platform to host these conversations because it allows people to listen whenever they want, it is something anyone can do while also multitasking if needed, and it allows us to have large conversations with others from their own comfort spaces. There is no “quick fix” for being happy. It’s an active choice, it takes work – every single day, it’s fluid, it ebbs and flows, and it’s beautiful when you realize it’s achievable. We’re doing the work everyday ourselves, and you can too. Join us!

More About Lauren & Sophia

Over the last 2 years, I’ve grown so much more than I ever thought possible. I’ve learned to love myself, I’ve learned to love living, I’ve learned what stress looks like for me and also what balance looks like. I’ve learned to put myself first, and to be okay with other people putting themselves first. I’m not perfect, I’m not healed, I still struggle every day with mental health but that’s normal. Problems are normal, struggles are normal. But despite those problems and struggles, I can now say for the first time in my life, that I’m generally a happy person. I noticed that I talk to a lot of people in my life about mental health, because it’s part of my everyday. Every day I’m working on being a happier more effective version of myself, so naturally it ends up in conversations, so I thought why not talk about it to everyone on a podcast? ~Sophia

We have been friends since elementary school where we met playing sports together. Several years after losing contact, we regained closeness when we realized that we were going through nearly the exact same struggles in life. For so long we had felt completely isolated in our feelings, and after talking for several months, we started to wonder if there were others out there who were in a similar boat to us. Conversations with friends and family led us to the realization that this was a larger scale issue than we originally thought. People in all walks of life seem to believe that everyday mental health is just something we need to “suck up” or “get over”… we wanted to change that. We wanted to create a platform for people to come together and bond over issues that many feel isolated in, or feel are taboo to talk about. Low and behold, Real Problems Podcast was born.

Hey there! Thank you for visiting our place here on the internet. I have battled with my own mental health since around the age of 8 (that I can remember). Ever since then, I have been on my journey to figure out my place in this world. Through therapy, connections, self care, several tears, and some medication, I am here to share my story and different techniques I have learned along the way. It can be very scary to put yourself out there. However, I have decided to push past that fear and create a dream project of mine. Mental health, or rather health in general, has always been very important to me. I am so excited to see where this podcast is going to go! ~Lauren
